Interview with Corentin Fournier

President of the INSA'Roule club and member of the Student Union office

Hello Corentin, can you introduce yourself?

My name is Corentin and I'm in my third year of Industrial Systems Engineering in the apprenticeship stream on the Blois campus.

Which associations have you been involved with at INSA CVL and in what ways?

I'm President of the INSA'Roule mechanics club, and am involved in the department of the Student Union that comprises all the school's clubs and associations.

In which association have you had the most responsibilities (office) and which ones?

Well, I'm the president of INSA'Roule, which means I have to manage all the affairs of the association with the members of the board, and I've also been involved in the Student Union associations department, which has taught me a lot about associations, how they work and what they do.

If you had to single out one highlight of your positions in associations, what would it be?

Despite my passion for INSA'Roule, which is really the club I invest the most in, I think the most memorable moment of my term of office was the last evening of my term at the Student Union. It was the culmination of everything we had achieved over the year, a lot of teamwork and memories shared with all the members of the association!

What's the hardest thing about juggling your studies with your involvement in voluntary work?

The most difficult aspect to manage really is time, I never have enough to do all the things I'd like to do for the clubs, but I think that other students involved in student activities have the same issues!

And what is the most positive aspect?

The most positive thing is really the projects and the progress we make. We manage everything from end to end until the event in question is a reality, and that's gratifying because they're often real successes!

What support/help have you received from INSA CVL recently?

We receive a global budget through subsidies paid by the school and various partners, so that the association can carry out all its projects.

In student life in its broadest sense (housing, inclusion, solidarity, grants, health, etc.), what do you think is the school's greatest asset?

The major advantage of the INSA CVL is its size - there are around 850 of us on the Blois campus! This creates a real bond between all the classes.

What skills do you think you've developed through these student activities?

They have enabled me to improve my interpersonal skills, my ability to manage projects, and also to meet lots of new people! This allowed me to find out more about the specialities, find out about work-study programmes and make choices for my engineering course.

Do you have any advice for students who might be reluctant to get involved?

Involvement in clubs and associations is really important and gives you the chance to meet a huge number of people. It also allows you to develop so many skills that will be useful in your professional life... it's an opportunity you really shouldn't miss!
